The house

Arume is what the pines leave on the ground

The needles that have already fallen: the ones that carpet the floor of the pine wood and soften your footsteps. They give the house its name, and they are the first thing you smell when you step out of the car. The grounds sit back from the road, among pines, and at night what you hear is the wind in the tops.

The house is stone, restored with respect for its granite and its original proportions: the walls were left exposed and the timber beams kept where there were any. The new joinery follows the design of the old, in the places where the original could no longer be saved.

Every room has its own bathroom. The kitchen and the sitting room with the fireplace are shared, and outside are the garden terrace and a heated indoor pool that works in January just as well as in August.

We take care of breakfast, of the bed linen, and of telling you where to eat well and when the tide goes out. The rest is yours to decide.

Breakfast

Homemade, from nine to eleven

It is included and served from 9 to 11: juice, coffee or tea, toast, fruit, yoghurt and cured meats from the area. Natural produce, from around here, made in the house every morning.

With only four rooms there are no sittings and no queue: come down whenever you feel like it.

Pool and gardens

Indoors, heated, open all year

Timber beams, daylight and warm water in December.

It is under a roof, so rain does not count: you can swim in December with the pine wood on the other side of the glass. Included with every booking, along with the garden terrace and the shared sitting room.

Around here

The Camino de Santiago passes a kilometre away

The Camiño Xacobeo Ría de Muros e Noia has been an official Jacobean route since December 2020 and crosses the parish of Outes. It has two starting points, the harbours of Muros and Porto do Son, which meet before climbing to Compostela. You can begin a stage from here, with the path a kilometre from the house.

Around you there is a beach fifteen minutes away on foot, an Iron Age fort above the sea, the largest collection of guild gravestones in the world at Noia, and the only waterfall in continental Europe that falls straight into the ocean.

What our guests say

9.4

out of 10 · average of the six ratings across 116 reviews: 34 verified on Booking, where the overall score is 9.2, and 82 from direct bookings

What comes up most often in the reviews is not the house: it is the quiet. Arume sits back from the road, surrounded by pine wood, and at night hardly a car goes by. You sleep with the window open.

It is a house for resting without having to organise anything. You can spend the day between the garden, the sitting room with its fireplace and the indoor pool without leaving the grounds, or walk down to Broña beach in fifteen minutes and come back for lunch. Winter works the same as August, because the pool is under a roof and heated.

And there is no reception desk, no timetable to keep beyond breakfast. We are here for whatever you need — where to eat well, when the tide goes out, how to join the stage of the Camino that passes a kilometre away — and out of the way the rest of the time.
