When you stay in Spain, the accommodation is required by law to register the details of everyone staying and to send them to the Ministry of the Interior. It is not our own paperwork and we cannot skip it: it is set out in Royal Decree 933/2021, which governs the registration and reporting duties of lodging establishments.
What the law requires
The accommodation must keep a traveller register and report the data to the Ministry of the Interior immediately and within 24 hours at the latest: when a booking is made, changed or cancelled, and when the stay begins.
An identity document is required from the age of 14. A Spanish DNI, an EU national identity document or a passport are accepted.
Fines for not complying range from €100 to €600 for minor breaches and from €601 to €30,000 for serious ones. That is why we always ask, without exception.
What we ask you for
Full name, sex where it appears on the document, type and number of the identity document, date of issue, date of birth, nationality, address, phone number and email. If a child under 14 is travelling, the relationship or title of whoever is responsible for them.
We do not ask for a photocopy of your document: the law requires us to record the data, not to keep a copy, and holding copies we do not need would go against data protection rules.
When it happens
At online check-in, before you arrive. A few days ahead we send you a link to fill in the details of everyone travelling, so there are no forms to sign and no reception desk to wait at. Check-in is from 3 pm to 10 pm and check-out until 12 noon.
What we do with the data
It is reported to the Ministry of the Interior through the SES.HOSPEDAJES platform and kept in our register for three years, the period the law sets. It is not used for anything else. You can read the detail in our privacy policy.
